Happy Easter to you, however you are celebrating....

Happy Easter to you, for those who are celebrating! We are currently in Penang, Malaysia on a weeks family holiday. We had some Malaysia Airlines airmiles due to expire, and so took the opportunity for a quick trip to Kuala Lumpur....

With two kids now at University, we really enjoy these last family holidays altogether... especially having only just regrouped back in Australia after having kids studying last year in India and the UK. It seems like only yesterday that they were all very little and our Easter would always include lots of chocolate and of course the Easter Bunny and a massive Easter Egg hunt...

It is about this time of year that we recall one Easter in 2006 spent with family friends in China. We were in Yangshou, Guangxi Province, China and took a stroll after breakfast around the wet market that had appeared outside our hotel. The market was alive with all sorts of weird and wonderful fruits and veggies as well as chickens and rabbits.
We had an unfortunate experience which we refer back to as The Year when the Easter Bunny was slaughtered... The kids still talk about watching the rabbits and chickens being killed as the locals choose and ordered their fresh food for their Sunday meals!

Yesterday we took a 55 minute flight up to Penang Island. We decided to stay out of the Georgetown center and have headed to the beach resort of Batu Ferrangi. Penang is very diverse in ethnicity, culture, language and religion and our hotel the Park Royal Resort is reflective of this. So much so, that Easter is skipping us by this year....
With only 5% of the local population Christian and over 45% are Muslim, it is easy to understand why Easter is a low key event here...I love seeing all the ladies in their traditional burqas, and I am writing this at 5.45am awoken as our local mosque is in full chant...!

So I've cheated with my photographs today which were all taken last week at the Flower Dome in Gardens by the Bay in Singapore with their very over the top display including thousands of Easter eggs...
I saw this sign also in Singapore at a candy store on Sentosa...
message to family...

Happy Easter, however you are celebrating....Just off in search of chocolate... I wonder if the Mini-Mart is open at the crack of dawn, or is it just the mosque?!!

Here is a little excerpt:  Gwinganna Detox Program I’ve been invited to join a  seven-night detox program  at Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat. Hey, what ever happened to Summer? I hope yours was lovely, mine was pretty amazing! It feels like my whole year has whizzed past in a flash, how about yours?  I've had a year of saying "yes" to everything offered to me. It has been exciting to put it out to the Universe to see where I should be. We feel very fortunate to be able to do this in my husband's early years of retirement. I'm just back in Asia from the US. I never feel my year is quite right without seeing British daffodils in the Spring and a pumpkin and the leaves turning in Autumn. Yay, the world nailed it this year, thank you.  Read on to find out what happened when my ultimate yes occurred on a trip to Montana to meet Ruth, an IG friend. I know Bloggers will smile and not be at all concerned, we've been meeting up around the globe for years, haven't we...?!  But let's just say some of my family and friends were, you're doing what?! But first some Little Wren updates! France I had so
